The Asphalt Green complex—two buildings linked by a green Super Turf athletic field—is a low-rise oasis amidst the Upper East Side’s high-rise apartment towers. Rimmed by trees and a playground on one side, and overlooking the East River, Randall’s Island and three of New York’s bridges on the other side, it offers its members what most New Yorkers lack—sweeping vistas, great light, and a number of different perspectives from which to view the changing seasons, the river traffic, the pattern of children as they play. Here are some of those views.
